Everything you need to make the BEST salad

  • 2 x 5oz canned tuna (2 x 145g cans) – we use water-packed tuna
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp dried Dill
  • 2 sticks celery – thinly sliced, this adds a nice crunch.
  • 1/2 red onion – finely chopped
  • Handful of flat leaf parsley – finely chopped (chopped chives are good here too)
  • Pinch salt
  • Pinch ground black pepper

Step One throw the ingredients together

  • Drain the tuna well, and then add all the ingredients to a large bowl.

Step Two – mix up the tuna salad

  • Mix everything together well so that all the tuna fish and salad vegetables are coated in mayonnaise and seasonings. We like to mix using a fork, as it separates to the tuna better.

Step Three – serve your salad

  • Serve up your salad – we can’t resist scooping it from the bowl with cucumber!

How To Serve Tuna Salad – What Goes With Tuna Salad

Okay, so you can absolutely just eat this tuna fish salad straight from the bowl, but if you want more of a serving suggestion, see below for all our delicious ideas!

  • Mix into rice for a tuna rice salad
  • Stir it through plain cooked pasta as a tuna pasta salad – we usually add some extra fresh herbs.
  • Stuff into warmed pita bread.
  • Serve with lettuce leaves and s squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
  • Pile it onto rye bread for the BEST tuna sandwich
  • Make into lettuce wraps.
  • Serve with crackers for scooping.
  • Use it up in tuna melts – try our tuna melt bagel here
  • Pack it into flour tortilla wraps with fresh green salad leaves.

Recipe Tips And Ingredient Swaps And Add-Ins 

Add some extra vegetables – you can add in any extra vegetables you like – try bell peppers, deseeded tomatoes, sweetcorn, chopped avocado, cucumber, shredded carrots, scallions (spring onions) or even tasty dill pickles or chopped cornichons.

Add a kick of heat – like your tuna salad to come with a kick? Throw in some chopped red chillies, sliced jalapeño or just a pinch of red pepper flakes.

Swap the mayo – you can swap the mayo for greek yogurt if you prefer.
