There’s something simply delicious about the combination of plump, juicy, sweet tomatoes with slices of creamy mozzarella. And then to add in the luscious avocado and scatter with torn basil leaves it just finishes the salad perfectly.
The Tricolore salad is supposed to be an edible representation of the Italian flag, and it’s delicious!

Tricolore Salad Ingredients
You’ll just need a handful of simple, tasty, fresh ingredients to make this beautiful Italian salad recipe.
- 125g mozzarella – cut into slices – I usually use Galbani mozzarella
- 200g baby plum tomatoes
- 1 large avocado (or two small ones)
- Bunch of fresh basil leaves
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and black pepper to serve

How To Make Tricolore Salad
It’s super easy to throw together this tasty tomato, mozzarella, avocado salad
Step One – prepare the salad vegetables
- Slice the baby plum tomatoes into halves
- Peel and de-stone the avocado, then slice.
Step Two – slice the mozzarella
- Drain the mozzarella and slice.
Step Three – assemble the Tricolore salad
- Take the salad platter and scatter over the avocado, tomato, mozzarella salad then drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and cracked black pepper. Finish with a scattering of torn basil leaves.
What To Serve With Tricolore Salad
